With the theme: “RHEPC @ 19: Remounting Minds and Milieus,” The Paragon staff joined the 19th Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) together with their advisers, Mrs. Johanna R. Chua and Ms. Jonaisa H. Mangindel which was held at Highlander Hotel and Resort, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya on March 8-10.
Eight student journalists from the tertiary level; Marc Anthony O. Jacob, Virginia G. Molina, Ma. Virginia N. Magana, Curt Justine L. Yambao, Arielle Monique D. Lacbayan, Cristian Dem L. Cabalar, Marydhel Hope S. Evardone, and Rochelle M. Catubag, along with over two hundred delegates from the provinces of Region II participated in the said event.
Student journalists took part in different journalistic genres in both English and Filipino categories such as Photojournalism, Editorial Writing, Cartooning, Copyreading and Headline Writing, Feature Writing, News Writing, Column Writing, Literary Graphics, Poetry Writing, Developmental Communication Writing, Comic Strip Drawing, Sports Writing, and Lay-outing.
Mrs. Johanna R. Chua, Senior Adviser of The Paragon, was elected as one of the Board Members of Cagayan Valley Association of Tertiary Paper Advisers.
Meanwhile, Marc Anthony O. Jacob, The Paragon Editor-in-Chief, was appointed as one of Nueva Vizcaya’s Representative of the Cagayan Valley Association of College Editors.
The event took place in order “to create an atmosphere of competitiveness and excellence in undertaking journalism activities toward achieving the goals of Campus Journalism.”
