Aldersgate College Joins “Writing Beyond Borders” Workshop to Advance International Research Publication

Peñablanca, Cagayan — July 22, 2025 — Aldersgate College Inc. proudly took part in the regional faculty development initiative “Writing Beyond Borders: A Faculty Development Workshop on Strengthening Research for High-Impact International Journal Submission,” held at the ISAP Hospitality and Tourism Management Complex, Alimannao Hills, Peñablanca, Cagayan.

This timely academic gathering, aimed at building research capacity among higher education institutions in the region, featured a series of expert-led sessions designed to align academic research with regional priorities, promote high-impact multidisciplinary studies, and lay the groundwork for successful international publication.

Session Highlights:

Session 1: Aligning Academic Research with the Regional Development Thrusts and Priorities was delivered by Ms. Rizza Trumata Andres, Supervising Economic Development Specialist at the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Region II. The presentation outlined the Cagayan Valley’s development status, articulated its regional vision, and unpacked the Cagayan Valley Regional Development Plan (CVRDP) Framework and Strategies. It also emphasized the importance of academic research contributing to the region’s research and development agenda.

Session 2: Understanding High-Impact Research on Science and Technology, presented by Dr. Victor B. Perlas Jr., RMT, MPH, DIH, Project Technical Specialist III of DOST Region II, explored the concept of multidisciplinary convergence. The session showcased high-impact research initiatives intersecting health, robotics, agriculture, and transportation, underscoring the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) push for integrative, innovation-driven studies.

Session 3: Laying the Foundations of International Publication, led by Dr. Melanie G. Gurat, a faculty member from the School of Graduate Studies and DOST Project Leader at Saint Mary’s University, focused on essential strategies to strengthen research outputs for international publication, including manuscript preparation, targeting the right journals, and sustaining long-term research productivity.

Representing Aldersgate College Inc. were Kristian Cesar C. Ollier and Jovelyn A. Detablan, MS-ChemEd, from the institution’s Research & Development and Entrepreneurship (RDE) Unit. Their attendance underscores Aldersgate College’s commitment to elevating faculty research outputs and fostering a research culture that meets global academic standards.

The workshop not only provided valuable technical insights but also promoted collaborative opportunities among researchers across Region II, reinforcing the alignment of academic pursuits with national development priorities.
