Tourism Awareness Seminar and Statistics Training Held in Solano

Solano, Nueva Vizcaya – The Tourism Awareness Seminar and Tourism Statistics Training successfully took place on February 18, 2025, at the Legislative Building, Solano Municipal Hall. Organized by the Local Government Unit of Solano – Tourism Sector, the event aimed to enhance local stakeholders’ understanding of tourism trends, statistical reporting, and sustainable tourism development.

The seminar gathered tourism officers, local government representatives, industry professionals, and students, with Aldersgate College Inc. proudly represented by a faculty member from the College of Business, Management and Accountancy, alongside student interns from the BS Tourism Management program.

The program commenced with a registration period, followed by preliminaries, including an opening prayer, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and the Solano March. The Municipal Mayor delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the significance of tourism development in Nueva Vizcaya and its potential for economic growth.

The seminar proper featured a series of insightful discussions. Adam Roy S. Elizaga, AA III, opened with a session on Nueva Vizcaya Tourism Trends and Updates, providing a comprehensive overview of the province’s evolving tourism landscape. Mae Madelaine D. Bucatan, TOO I, followed with a presentation on Municipal Tourism Trends and Updates, highlighting key initiatives at the municipal level.

Another vital topic was the Initial Report for the Inspection of Eco-Tourism Attractions, presented by Adam Roy S. Elizaga. This was followed by Introduction to Tourism by Marjorie S. Cortez, Acting TOO II, and a discussion on the Tourism Product Cycle by Sharen G. Bonayon, STOO.

Reixies N. Milo, AA VI, provided an in-depth look at the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE), emphasizing quality service in the tourism sector. The morning sessions concluded with an Open Forum, allowing participants to engage in meaningful discussions with MMO-Tourism and PTCO personnel.

Afternoon Session: Data and Accreditation

After a networking lunch break, Sheyane P. Valdez, AA III, led a presentation on Tourism Statistics Reporting, detailing the importance of accurate data collection in policymaking and tourism development. Jane P. Arcega, Acting MR, discussed Accreditation, providing insights into industry standards and compliance requirements for tourism establishments.

Another Open Forum session enabled participants to clarify their concerns regarding accreditation and tourism data management. This was followed by a segment where participants shared their Impressions and feedback about the seminar.

Aldersgate College Inc.’s participation underscored its commitment to developing future tourism leaders by exposing students to real-world industry practices. The seminar provided valuable learning experiences for the BS Tourism Management interns, equipping them with knowledge in tourism development, statistical analysis, and service excellence.
