Aldersgate College Inc. (ACI) and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Seal Strategic Partnership on Research, Extension, and Capacity Building

In a significant move towards advancing academic collaboration and research excellence, Aldersgate College Inc. (ACI) and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) have officially entered into a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing held at the Olonan Conference Hall, PUP Sta. Mesa Campus.
This milestone marks the beginning of a promising partnership anchored in co-development initiatives, with a strong emphasis on research collaboration, community extension, and capacity-building through innovative and synergistic strategies aimed at delivering real-world solutions to societal challenges.
The ceremony was graced by prominent leaders from both institutions. In her welcome remarks, Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, PUP Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development, emphasized the importance of the partnership.“This collaboration aligns with PUP’s mission to forge meaningful engagements with other higher education institutions committed to community development. We thank the ACI team for choosing PUP as one of their partners in research, extension, and other academic endeavors, and we are committed to supporting ACI in these initiatives,” Dr. Gapasin stated.
Representing Aldersgate College, Dr. Cesar T. Medula, Jr., Vice President for Research, Development, and Entrepreneurship (RDE), shared ACI’s aspirations in forging the partnership.“We are honored to partner with one of the country’s premier state universities. This Memorandum of Understanding reaffirms Aldersgate College’s vision of evolving into a research-intensive and entrepreneurial institution. Grounded in the principles of bridging leadership, this collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering inclusive and participatory research ecosystems that translate knowledge into context-responsive solutions for community development.” Dr. Medula expressed.
The ACI delegation was also composed of the following:

  • Ms. Rubilyn L. Attam, OIC-Director, Research & Development and Entrepreneurship Center (RDEC)
  • Ms. Jovelyn A. Detablan, Director, Center for Abaca and Natural Fiber, Mushroom, and Medicinal Plants (CANFMMP)
  • Ms. Ruth Charlyn D. Ramel, Director, Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO)

PUP’s delegation also included visionary leaders from its research arm:

  • Engr. Orland Tubola, Director, Research Institute for Strategic Foresight and Innovation (RISFI)
  • Engr. Marife A. Rosales, Chief, Center for Futures Training and Advocacy, RISFI

This initiative was made possible through the continued guidance and leadership of Dr. Ronnie S. Concepcion II, whose role as RD Leader has significantly contributed to ACI’s research growth and external linkages. The partnership also received full support from Rev. Micah Ryan B. Ramel, President of Aldersgate College, whose steadfast support and visionary leadership have propelled the institution toward becoming a hub for applied research and innovation in Region II.

Equally vital to this achievement is the dedicated work of the (RDE) Team, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Cesar Medula Jr., Vice President for RDE. Their collaborative efforts, strategic direction, and unwavering commitment played a crucial role in turning this vision into a reality.

The ACI-PUP MoU is not just a formal agreement, it is a gateway to collaborative projects, research mentorship, academic exchanges, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that promote sustainable development goals (SDGs) and community impact. It symbolizes both institutions’ shared mission of cultivating a future-ready, research-driven academic environment that uplifts lives and fosters national development.
