Aldersgate College Incorporated (ACI) and De La Salle University’s CENSER ForgePartnership for Collaborative Research

De La Salle University, Manila – May 19, 2025
Aldersgate College Incorporated (ACI) has taken a significant step forward in strengthening its
research capacity and institutional linkages by formalizing a partnership with De La Salle
University’s Center for Natural Sciences and Environmental Research (CENSER) under the
Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation. The collaboration was formalized
through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held at De La Salle University
on May 19, 2025.
This strategic alliance is aimed at promoting collaborative research and fostering innovation in
the fields of natural sciences and environmental research. By leveraging their collective
expertise, resources, and networks, ACI and DLSU aim to address pressing environmental and
scientific challenges while building research capacity among faculty and students.
The initiative was made possible through the strong support and guidance of Dr. Ronnie S.
Concepcion II, Ph.D., RD Leader of ACI, who also serves as Associate Professor at De La Salle
University and Researcher at CENSER’s Plant and Soil Health Research Unit. Dr. Concepcion’s
leadership and vision were instrumental in connecting both institutions and aligning their shared
goals for research excellence and sustainability.
Moreover, the realization of this collaborative endeavor was further strengthened by the
unwavering support of Rev. Micah Ryan B. Ramel, President of Aldersgate College, whose
commitment to elevating the college’s research and innovation agenda has been key to forging
strategic academic partnerships nationwide.
This milestone was further reinforced by the exemplary efforts of the RDE Team, under the
dynamic leadership of Dr. Cesar T. Medula, Jr., whose collaborative synergy with the RD Leader
ensured the strategic coordination and execution of the partnership. Their collective work
embodies a unified vision of building a research culture anchored in inclusivity, capacity
building, and societal impact.
The MoU signing was attended by key representatives from both institutions. From ACI:

● Dr. Cesar T. Medula, Jr., Vice President for Research & Development and
Entrepreneurship
● Ms. Rubilyn L. Attam, OIC-Director, Research & Development and Entrepreneurship

● Ms. Ruth Charlyn D. Ramel, Director, Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office
(KTTO)

From DLSU:

● Dr. Angelyn Lao, Director, CENSER
Both institutions expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration and shared a common vision of
contributing to scientific advancement and sustainable development through joint initiatives,
academic exchanges, and co-authored research projects and publications.
Moving forward, this partnership will open new avenues for research mentorship, faculty
development, and participation in joint scientific endeavors—particularly those aligned with
national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It represents a pivotal move
for Aldersgate College as it continues to strengthen its mission and vision.
