Aldersgate College RDE Team Joins DOST North Luzon Cluster Call Conference 2025

The Research and Development and Entrepreneurship (RDE) Team of Aldersgate College actively participated in the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) North Luzon Cluster Call
Conference on January 13, 2025, at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) – Teatro Ilocandia, Batac,
Ilocos Norte. The conference served as a hub for scientific collaboration and knowledge-sharing, bringing
together researchers, policymakers, and institutions to align research priorities and address regional and
national challenges through science and technology.

The active participation of the RDE Team in the DOST North Luzon Cluster Call Conference was a testament to the steadfast support and strategic commitment of Aldersgate College. The institution provided comprehensive resources, logistical assistance, and meticulous preparations to ensure the team’s successful engagement. This included financial support, well-coordinated planning, and deliberate efforts to optimize the team’s participation, highlighting Aldersgate College’s dedication to fostering research excellence and innovation. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Cesar T. Medula, Jr., Vice President for Research and Development and Entrepreneurship, the RDE Team embodied the college’s mission to advance innovation, sustainability, and impactful research. The conference offered a vibrant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and networking, enabling the team to actively engage with key stakeholders and explore meaningful opportunities to contribute to both regional and national development priorities.

During the breakout sessions in the afternoon, the RDE Team strategically participated in discussions across various councils to maximize their representation and involvement. Dr. Cesar T. Medula, Jr. and Ms. Rubilyn L. Attam joined the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) session, which emphasized basic research initiatives. Ms. Jovelyn Detablan, Director of the Center for Abaca and Natural Fiber, Mushroom, and Medicinal Plant and Natural Products Research, contributed to the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) discussions. Similarly, Ms. Ruth Charlyn Ramel, Technology Transfer Officer, participated in the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) session, while research specialists Ms. Chelsey Dacumos and Ms. Lhyca Ann Sibal joined the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) sessions.

This strategic engagement allowed the team to gain critical insights into the priority research areas outlined by DOST and its councils, while also identifying opportunities for collaboration and funding. By actively participating in these focused discussions, the RDE Team reinforced Aldersgate College’s role as a proactive partner in addressing national development goals through innovation and research.
Through this participation, Aldersgate College underscores its unwavering dedication to advancing sustainable development and addressing societal challenges through science and technology, further affirming its position as a key player in the research and development landscape. The institution’s consistent support and strategic direction ensure that its research initiatives remain at the forefront of addressing pressing issues and contributing to national and global progress.
