Tagbilaran City, Bohol — September 10, 2025. As part of their Trade Techno Mission – Benchmarking Activity, the Nueva Vizcaya delegation visited Crissander Enterprises, one of the success stories of local innovation in Bohol. Once a mentee of FABLAB Bohol and DTI Bohol, Crissander has now grown into a recognized One Town, One Product (OTOP) producer, showcasing the potential of woodcraft artistry in the region.

Founded by Crispina and inspired by her upbringing surrounded by trees and woods, Crissander started from humble beginnings. What began as an exploration of transforming wood scraps into handcrafted earrings gradually developed into a full-fledged enterprise. Despite initial struggles in the export market, Crispina—together with her cousin Virgilio—shifted focus to the local market and continued to refine their craft.

Their perseverance paid off when Crissander’s products were noticed by DTI and showcased in various trade fairs and exhibits. The breakthrough came in 2016, when two of their creations were handpicked for the Analyst Choice at the Global Sources Fashion Show in Hong Kong. With further support from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through improved machinery, the enterprise enhanced both productivity and design quality.

Today, Crissander contributes to the home and fashion sector, producing innovative woodcraft products for both local and international markets. More than a business, it serves as a platform that uplifts artisans and promotes Filipino craftsmanship on the global stage.

For the Nueva Vizcaya delegates, the visit highlighted how mentorship, government support, and resilience can transform small ventures into globally competitive enterprises. The Crissander model underscores the importance of creativity, adaptive strategies, and institutional partnerships in driving rural entrepreneurship and cultural promotion.
