Webinar Recap: Leveraging MATLAB for Academic Success – A Gateway to AI Applications

Aldersgate College Inc. (ACI) continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and research in alignment with the Department of Science and Technology – National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) through its Research and Development Lead on Future Innovations and Research in Engineering (RD Lead FIRE) activities. On September 11, 2024, ACI hosted an insightful webinar titled “Leveraging MATLAB for Academic Success: A Gateway to AI Applications,” from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM via Microsoft Teams. The event featured Nurul Iman Nordin, Customer Success Engineer at Techsource Systems, as the resource speaker.

This webinar, attended by the ACian community, was a key milestone in Aldersgate College’s mission to enhance academic excellence and develop skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its faculty and students. It highlighted the critical role of AI in education and research, providing practical knowledge that aligns with the college’s efforts to remain at the forefront of technological advancements.

The webinar provided an in-depth introduction to MATLAB, focusing on its user-friendly interface and basic commands, making it accessible for both beginners and users. Nurul Iman Nordin highlighted MATLAB’s relevance in both teaching and research, showcasing its interactive tools designed to accelerate research outcomes and enhance teaching effectiveness. Participants were also introduced to the basics of the AI workflow within MATLAB, learning how to develop and test AI models. A hands-on segment allowed attendees to create simple AI models, giving them practical experience with real-world applications. Additionally, the speaker provided valuable resources, including access to tutorials, user communities, and technical support, to ensure participants could continue their learning journey post-webinar. This event was a key indicator of ACI’s dedication to integrating AI into its academic programs, in alignment with its collaboration with DOST-NRCP, and demonstrated the institution’s proactive approach in preparing its students and faculty for the evolving technological landscape.
